Maybe They’ll Get There

A man and a woman got on the Link train together at University Street Station. They took seats somewhere behind me. I overheard their conversation.

Man: “Look at all those stations.”
Woman: “Where are we now?”
Man: “University Street. Crap! That’s a lot of stations! We’re going to have to go all the way through the city.”
Woman: “We should have taken the monorail.”

That’s all I heard of the conversation. I thought about them for a good part of the morning. I shared the conversation with a couple of coworkers. At first, I thought the man and woman were mistaken about where the monorail goes.

It occurred to me, later in the morning, that they probably thought they were on a northbound train.

I hope they figured it out and got to wherever they were headed.
