Phillip and I drove to Ballard today, to see The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 at The Majestic Bay with Phillip and Kelly.
(My)Phillip and I planned to get there early, to have time to find parking. We got there a little earlier than planned, and found a parking space without too much driving around. So we browsed around the Ballard Library a while, and then sat in Ballard Coffee Works over a latte and spiced chai.
Then we walked next door to the theater and got to the box office when Kelly and (her)Phillip were four blocks away. They did the sensible thing and parked in a pay lot.
It didn’t occur to us until we’d found our seats, but we’d forgotten to ask Kelly and (her)Phillip, when we’d extended the invitation, if they’d seen the other Hunger Games movies. They had, and Kelly had read the books. Mockingjay, Part 2 is not a movie you just walk into.
We all loved the movie, and afterwards, we went to lunch. (My)Phillip had suggested La Isla, if they liked Puerto Rican food, or Li’l Woody’s if they didn’t. Neither Kelly nor (her)Phillip had ever had Puerto Rican food, weren’t even sure what it would be like, but were willing to try. I decided that I was in the mood for a place less formal than La Isla (not that it’s really all that formal). So, from the theater, Kelly, the Phillips, and I walked next door to Li’l Woody’s for hamburgers.
It was a good day, with good friends, good food, and a good movie.
We all agreed that the next time the four of us are in Ballard together, it will be La Isla.
