Wednesday night, we reported to Netflix that the DVD of Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials was damaged and unable to be played. On Thursday morning, they told us that a replacement was on its way. That replacement was in our mailbox on Friday. That impressed me, favorably.
Today, Phillip and I drove to the U District, to see Deadpool at Sundance Cinemas.
We had purchased our tickets, with reserved seating, ahead of time, so there was no rush getting there, and yet we got to the U District too early and found parking right away. We spent some time browsing though Petco, even though we don’t currently have pets. (We saw come cute ferrets.)
I enjoyed Deadpool a lot. Sure, it was violent and graphic, but it was also witty and clever – in a self-referential sort of way. It was, in many ways, a send-up of comic book superhero movies. (I’m not familiar with the comic book at all.)
That opening credit sequence was the funniest thing I’ve seen on a movie screen in a long time.
After the movie, we drove over to RoRo BBQ & Grill, in Wallingford, and got dinner to go. Then we drove home and ate ribs while we watched Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, which played all the way through.
