On August 31st, 2013, Sonar, the last of our sugar gliders, spent his final morning in The Bird & Exotic Clinic. It had to be done.
Sonar, the rule-breaker, chose me to bond to.
Sonar was the only one of our sugar gliders to get stuck on a wall map.
Sonar was the only one to decide that jumping on a fly strip would be a good idea.
Sonar was the only sugar glider to be given a bath. (Also, the only one to ever need one.)
Sonar was the one who ate food only because he needed to.
We still tell stories of our sugar gliders’ exploits.
It’s a melancholy evening in our apartment.
